Momentous conversation around SHPO

Arizona Farm Bureau, Arizona Cattle Growers’ AACD, and other stakeholders meet discussing archeological clearances on rangeland conservation projects. The meeting was productive and momentous! To follow, you will find action items to take note of:

• AZ SITE: moved to SLD, funded (access to data)

• NRCS contracting with Paleo West (backlog complete in 2020)

• Privacy issues: section 1619 agreements (legal opinion – can ASLD land be treated as private land?)

• Develop a process for paraprofessionals (or others) to document sites subject to other reviews

• Continued education regarding historic trash (conservation specific issues)

• Policy from NRCS: job approval authority

The next meeting will be held on February 3, 2020, at the State Land Department.
