Now Offering USDA Certified Programs! What is FACTA!
What is FACTA?
FACTA (Farm Animal Care Training and Auditing) is a nationally recognized leader in designing Animal Welfare (AW) training, verification, and certification tools along with Third-Party Verification Programs for the cattle industry. FACTA’s goal is to increase producers, back grounders, feeders and auction markets opportunities through value added services.
Age/Source Verification (ASV) Requirements
Group or individual birth dates are acceptable.
A written birth record documenting the first-born date must be provided and kept on file
for three years.
Only calves born on your ranch or purchased form approved suppliers properly identified
and accompanied by a tag manifest (if applicable) are eligible.
Calves not born on your ranch must be identified and recorded prior to commingling.
Calves must be tagged with a Program Complaint Tag (PCT) prior to leaving the ranch of
origin to guarantee eligibility for all programs (NHTC). If the calves are shipped prior to
program tags being applied, then the calves must move directly to a PVP approved
backgrounder or feedyard and must be identified by a ranch tag, brand or tattoo.
Calves must be processed into backgrounder and feedyard locations properly identified
and accompanied by a manifest of PCTs.
Auction Markets are responsible to ensure they receive the proper certificates to verify
conformance of the cattle group and the program certifications represented.
Non-Hormone Treated Cattle (NHTC)/HQB
Absolutely no hormonal growth promotants (HGP) may be used.
