To the Future Generations of Ranchers
It is inspiring to continue to do what we do to pass this land on to you. As it is any and every rancher's hope, we hope to pass on this way of life down to the next generation. Ranchers and farmers are nothing without the land. We need the land to grow food, raise animals, and raise families. That is why we work tirelessly and passionately to take care of the land.
We want to do better and do our jobs to the best of our ability. I know myself and fellow ranchers have never stopped learning about ways that can restore and conserve our natural resources. We developed partnerships with engineers, soil scientists, hydrologists, ranchers, veterinarians, technicians, wildlife organizations, and conservationists to enhance the well-being of the land, animals, and humans. We do this, so when it is your turn to care for the land and animals, what is passed to you is better than how we received it.
We also work to be leaders in our community to encourage others to be concerned about the health of the landscape by providing information, action, and representation. It is my hope you will be able to do the same.
With this land, I hope you never stop learning and never stop wanting what’s best for the land so you can pass it on to your next generation too!
Until then, we live by the proverb, "we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children."
This is my hope and letter to you,
Santana Nez
